Haiku
a bird flying low
over water, looking down -
sees only himself
* * *
red candles float past
lanterns reflect on the pond –chants mingle with prayers
* * *
soft red lanterns glow -
through the darkness of the grave light the way back home
* * *
the cold spirit peered
through the window at warm food left for him – and smiled
* * *
painted trees weep leaves -
blood red and yellow rain down caress me softly
* * *
in the fire light
ancestral spirits dancing -
smoke, incense and dreams
* * *
the night waits, crouching
sunset - shafts of light through trees keeps it still at bay
